John Sudduth is an Instructor of Accounting in the College of Business and Industry at Jacksonville State University (JSU). He also serves as the faculty co-advisor of Beta Alpha Psi, an international honors organization for financial information students and professionals, which focuses on professional development of students and strengthening relationships with the professional community. Additional responsibilities involve serving as the interim advisor for JSU’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, as well as a major academic advisor for accounting students.

Summary:        

Our first program of the year will feature Mike Perkins, President of Alabama-based Frontline HR and Frontline Develop and a CCSHRM member.

Introduction/Short Bio:

Mike Perkins serves as President of Alabama-based Frontline HR Solutions and Frontline Develop. He also serves as Corporate Counsel/Senior Consultant with Oklahoma-based Labor Relations Institute (LRI), a national leader whose core purpose is helping employers create extraordinary workplaces and remain union free.

Objectives:   

1. Grasp the concept of the “Golden 3” requirements for business success. (Three-Legged Stool)
2. Review the role of Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) in ensuring employee health and safety.
3. Understand the differences in crisis intervention techniques and counseling/therapy techniques.
4. Learn when crisis intervention is appropriate and when referral for counseling is indicated.

We have experienced firsthand tornados, ice/snowstorms, microburst/windstorms, and other severe weather events in Calhoun County that cause loss of property and significantly impacted ourselves, our families, and our workplaces. Learn how to better prepare to be ready when the next disaster occurs. We are fortunate to have FEMA offices in the county to guide us in the process.

Ethics ranges a broad spectrum from corporate responsibility to personal responsibility to social responsibility. It requires mutual understanding, fairness, respect, and trust.
